Today, I worked the National Writing Project booth at the National Council of Teachers of English Convention held here in Chicago from noon to 3pm.  Good to meet fellow CAWPers like Director Barbara Kato and Laura Jankowski, and NWP folks like Paul Oh.  Great to hear from members of other local sites of NWP.  Good to see them in good spirits after Obama/Duncan stripped the best PD program in the USA of federal support.

Always great to see my old Quigley South Prep Seminary writing teacher Herb Hrebic. Don’t look up the school, since it was closed by the Archdiocese of Chicago some time back. A damn shame! He was one of the founders of Stack the Deck. He is in the vendors area at NCTE.  Saw him at the Philadelphia NCTE convention.  To be honest, as I told him then, I was not one of best writers at the time but the ideas were hard wired in my brain regarding how to write.  When I seriously write, I still remember their council regarding writing.  Thanks Herb!
